One Keke Ziworitin, a 59- year old man in the coastal community of Ondewari
in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa state has mistakenly
cut off half his step- grandson’ s penis while trying to circumcize him.
A 59- year- old step -grandfather , Mr. Keke Ziworitin, has mistakenly chopped
off half of his eight- month -old step- grandson’ s penis in Bayelsa State .
Sources say Ziworitin has been performing circumcision for years and had
told the victim ’ s mother to bring her son for circumcision
The victim’ s father Joseph Michael , said he wasn ’ t aware the child was
being taken for circumcision as his wife did not inform him.
Michael said he knew about it when the news came that his son’ s genital
has been cut off .
“After cutting off my boy’ s penis , he told my wife to leave the child with him
for at least three weeks so that he could treat him . But my wife refused
because the boy was bleeding and she rushed him to a health centre , ”
Michael said .
The eight- month old child was later transferred to the Federal Medical
Centre , Yenagoa .
