The Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) has released its fourth interim statement on Dana Airlines MD 83 aircraft with registration 5N-RAM, which crashed at Iju-Ishaga area of Lagos state, Nigeria on 3rd June, 2012.

According to the AIB report, mechanical failure and pilot error caused the 2012 air crash in Nigeria that killed 159 people.
The report further reveals that two engines on the doomed Dana Air flight from the capital, Abuja, failed mid-air before it crashed on approach to Lagos airport.

Investigators said “lack of situation awareness, inappropriate decision-making and poor airmanship” were also to blame for the crash on June 3, 2012.
The Dana Air crash was one of the worst accidents in Nigerian aviation history.
The Boeing MD-83 aircraft was carrying 153 passengers and crew when it crashed into a densely-populated area in the north of Lagos and burst into flames.
Six people were killed on the ground. The long-running investigation involved officials from the airline, engine manufacturers Pratt & Whitney and international aviation experts.
Nigerian aviation authorities suspended Dana’s operating licence on June 5, 2012, two days after the crash. But it was briefly allowed to resume operation in January 2013 after meeting some safety standards but did not start full operations until the following January.
Dana Air was among the most popular carriers in Nigeria before the accident, with heavy traffic on its Abuja-Lagos route.
AIB commissioner Akin Olateru told reporters the Agency, which released a preliminary report on the crash in September 2012, spent so long on the investigation because of cash shortages.
He said the agency needed more funding, as the 16 million naira ($50,000, 47,000 euros) allocated in 2017 was not enough.
Nigeria’s worst air accident was in 1973, when 176 people died in a crash involving a Nigeria Airways Boeing 707 flying from Jeddah to Kano.

Hausas reportedly flee ile-ife after several of them died from communal clash

Following a communal clash that left several people dead and others
wounded in Ile-Ife, Osun state, the Hausas who reside in the town have
allegedly started moving out.
Hundreds of Hausas were reportedly leaving in batches, through
commercial buses and cars.
While some of them took Ilesa route, others followed Akure route
where they could get direct vehicles to the North.
The Sun newspaper reports that the Hausa people claimed that it
was only their people that lost their lives, following attacks by
hoodlums whom they said, used dangerous weapons, including
guns, cutlasses and cudgels among others.
Report shows that the Hausas started fleeing Ile-Ife on
Wednesday when the clash got terrible and they were still fleeing
in batches as at Friday evening.
One of the Hausa leaders, the Afobaje of the Hausa communities
in Ile-Ife, Alhaji Malami Nasidi, told Saturday Sun that his people
needed to leave the community immediately to escape any
further attack.
According to him, they don’t have anywhere to sleep, adding that
he and his family and other victims had been sleeping outside
and could not guarantee their security.
He said: “We need to go for now because our people are calling us
to come back home and we don’t have any option than to leave
now until peace is completely restored."
Another survivor, Mustapha Hassan, from Zaria said the victims
did not have any option than to go back to the North since their
houses had been destroyed, leaving them homeless.
Hassan said: “We don’t have anywhere to stay. We don’t have
anywhere to sleep. They have destroyed everything that we have.
Most of us had shops and stores where we used to sell carpets,
provisions, phones and other things. Other people used to sell food
stuff like beans, rice, yams, pepper, onions. But everything was
destroyed. We don’t have anything to survive in Ife any more. That
is why we have to go back to our homes in the north."
Another survival, Mustapha Nadabo said: “Since three days ago
when the fight started and they killed a lot of our people, the cloth
I am wearing now is the only thing I have now. I lost everything. I
don’t have any option than to go back to the north where I came
from."
Another Hausa leader, Alhaji Buhari Halum, also lamented the
attack, saying that the Hausa people in Ife had lived in peace and
unity with the Yoruba over the years and wondered why the
latter would take arms against them without recourse to the age-
long relationship.
Meanwhile, the aftermath of the fight left the town desolated as
banks, public and private schools as well as government offices
were under lock and key.
Majority of the civil servants who went to work were sent back
home by security personnel as most of the roads leading to their
offices were blocked.

Man Tried To Smuggle Ten Pounds Of Cocaine Into America …

US Citizen Juan Carlos Galan Luperon must have thought he had discovered
the ultimate smuggler ’s trick when he decided to sneak ten pounds of
cocaine into the country disguised as part of his clothing. Luperon who was
returning to the US from the Dominican Republic via John F. Kennedy
International Airport in New York wrapped the drugs worth $ 164 , 000 around
his legs and wore his trousers over them .

US Customs and Border Protection said Luperon was nervous and ‘ bursting
out of his pants , ’ which ‘ appeared to be rather snug. ’
He was taken to a private search room where the packages taped to his
body almost looked like leg casts.
Luperon could be charged on the federal level with smuggling charges and

How did your acting career start ?

I have always had passion for acting ever since I was very small. I remember

vividly when I was like five years old, I would stay in front of the television in

the house to watch movies , then later I will start acting the same way I

watched it for my mummy. Then I used to admire Regina Askia, Liz Benzon

and all . I started acting from secondary school but my father said it ’ s over

his dead body that I will act . I would go for auditioning and he will flog me.

After secondary school , I stopped attending auditioning and concentrated on

my education . When I got admitted to Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma , Edo

State , in year two , my immediate elder sister bought me a form to attend a

movie audition. I told her ‘ I ’ m scared, will you go with me?’ And she agreed

to go with me. That sameday, I was auditioned and chosen . That was how I

started acting in Edo State .

But my journey into the movie industry will not be complete if refuse to

mention how I came across Chico Ejiro , Zeb Ejiro , Emmanuel Okukuwa and

some other directors and artists. They saw me acting and were like , ‘ wow , so

you know how to act . You are also a good girl , the next time I have a movie

to shoot , I will call you’ That was how I came down to Lagos to act with

Uche Jombo on Chico Ejiro ’ s production .

What’s the title of the movie ?

It ’ s a movie titled When Dreams Fall Apart.

I want to be like Omotola Jalade .

Why her ?

I love her simplicity , and her real nature of interpreting roles . She ’ s very

natural , she ’ s herself. When you watch her movies , you will notice that she

doesn ’ t over act. Movie is actually make believe and she always gives her

acting that make believe touch .

Definitely ! I can’ t wait to work with her . Although , we have both featured in

the same movie , the day she came on set was the day I was leaving . But I

was with her in the car for a while.

I don ’ t have the number off hand but I could remember some titles like When

Dreams Fall Apart, Made on Mission , Desperate Bankers , Shattered Dream ,

Evil in Me , Triggered , which was produced by me and lots more .

Considering the nature of your job , do you think you would be able to stay

long in the industry ?

Sure, I will stay long in the movie industry. I ’ m not in it because everybody is

there , I ’ m here because of my passion for acting , this is me and all I love to

do. As the saying goes , ‘ nothing good comes easy’ . If I am not on set for

two weeks , I’ ll feel I’ m not where I’ m supposed to be . I love it when I am on

set.

Has any producer told you that if I don ’t have Sex with you, I won ’ t give you

role ?

Yes, several times and I don' t see it as a big deal . It happens in other

industries too . There ’ s always sexual harassment in other sectors ; you see

lecturers asking their students for sex before they can pass them . Even some

bosses in corporate organisations ask their subordinates for sex before they

can be promoted . But the ability to make you stand out , makes you who you

are. I can’ t say because I ’ m not picked for a role, I will now go and sleep

with the producer or director . Never! That’ s not me.

You are a beautiful lady , what is your beauty routine ?

Thank you. To maintain a fair skin is a whole lot of work, and my skin is

very delicate , I react to any irritation. So , I try as much as I can not to share

towel, bathing soap or cream with anybody. I take two glasses of warm

water every morning and night . And I eat more of vegetables and fruits.

You once said that your booobs are your selling points, how do you

maintain them to remain your selling points?

I used to think that my booobs are my selling points , but now my brain is

my selling point because I have a lot in there that is very profitable for the

movie industry. As for my booobs , I don’ t tie wrapper on my chest for any

reason, because it sags the booobs. I don’ t wear bras with iron underneath

and I don ’ t sleep with my bra on.

Is Success Asibor in a relationship?

I am in a relationship, but I’ m single and not married . I am always ready to

mingle.

Is your man comfortable with the nature of your career ?

Yes, he ’ s very comfortable with my job; he loves it so much. Anything I do,

he ’ s always supporting me and he ’ s very , very understanding .

What kind of guy would you like to settle down with?

First of all , he must be God fearing , understanding and very romantic .

What inspired your movie , Triggered ?

People’ s perception about men . A lot of people believe men are the ones that

cheat and not women, but the both of them are guilty . Triggered centers on

an ingrate girl friend , but then the rest will be unveiled when the movie is out

as home video .

Aside acting, what else do you do?

Aside acting , I sell hair extensions and female wears .

Between movie making and trading, which is more profitable ?

Like I said earlier , acting is my passion ; it gives me joy and satisfaction, but

my business pays me more .

Are you ready for marriage?

I will wait for God ’ s own time .

What is that special thing that acting has done for you?

It ’ s really opening doors for me these days I must confess , I have been

getting different adverts of recent .

Man chops off boy's penis in Yenagoa: 

          One Keke Ziworitin, a 59- year old man in the coastal community of Ondewari
in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa state has mistakenly
cut off half his step- grandson’ s penis while trying to circumcize him.
A 59- year- old step -grandfather , Mr. Keke Ziworitin, has mistakenly chopped
off half of his eight- month -old step- grandson’ s penis in Bayelsa State .

Sources say Ziworitin has been performing circumcision for years and had

told the victim ’ s mother to bring her son for circumcision

The victim’ s father Joseph Michael , said he wasn ’ t aware the child was

being taken for circumcision as his wife did not inform him.

Michael said he knew about it when the news came that his son’ s genital

has been cut off .

“After cutting off my boy’ s penis , he told my wife to leave the child with him

for at least three weeks so that he could treat him . But my wife refused

because the boy was bleeding and she rushed him to a health centre , ”

Michael said .

The eight- month old child was later transferred to the Federal Medical

Centre , Yenagoa .

OGBEMUDIA'S DEATH: Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state has declared a seven - day
period of mourning in honour of late Dr Samuel Ogbemudia , a two-
time governor of Bendel State.

Obaseki, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary , John Mayaki ,

said the mourning period will begin from March 10.

The governor described the death of late Ogbemudia as saddening and

prayed for his soul to rest in peace .

Obaseki described the deceased as “a fine military officer who helped to

liberate the Mid - West region during the civil war ”.

He said under Ogbemudia ’ s administration , Bendel became a leading state in

education , sports and industry.

“As two time Governor of Bendel, which comprised present - day Edo and Delta

states , Dr . Samuel Ogbemudia , will be fondly remembered for the strong

foundation that he laid to consolidate the infrastructural, social and

economic development of both states .

Amongst his several milestone achievements was the Mid- West Institute of

Technology, which is now the University of Benin .

As we mourn our great leader and father , we take solace in the legacies he

bequeathed Edo State and indeed Nigeria , ” the statement added.

Quite a relief for some nigerians....President Buhari who arrived Nigeria from London today , has asked Vice
President Yemi Osinbajo to continue piloting the affairs of the nation as he
needs more time to rest .
 He said this when he met with Osinbajo, his
cabinet members and some governors at the state house this morning .
He also asked that no one should send any delegation to greet him in the
state house . President Buhari also hinted that he might be back to the UK in
a few weeks time for a follow up on his medicals ..
